The MUS lacrosse program concluded its spring season with a 9-6 record and earned significant recognition from USA Lacrosse and a host of regional organizations, with several Owls receiving honors that rank among the most prestigious available to high school players in the country. USA Lacrosse structures its All-American and All-Academic selections by dividing each state into regions proportional to the number of high school lacrosse players, ensuring that honorees represent the nation’s best players. The USA Lacrosse All-American designation recognizes not only skill but also exemplary sportsmanship.

Junior captain and starting varsity goalie Joel Hobson IV (12) earned the program’s highest individual honor, being named a USA Lacrosse All-American. From making spectacular saves to serving as a vocal commander on the defense, Hobson’s selection reflects both his performance between the pipes and the leadership he demonstrated throughout the season. Despite the individual recognition, Hobson commented that he credits a significant part of his success to the support of both his teammates and coaches.

Senior captain William Fruechtenicht (’26) was a multitalented starting midfielder with an ability to contribute wherever he was needed, including time at attack. Because of his invaluable role to the MUS offense, Fruechtenicht was named to the USA Lacrosse All-Academic team. Fruechtenicht will continue his lacrosse career at Rhodes College this fall.

Fellow senior captain Dallas Keras (’26) also earned a spot on the USA Lacrosse All-Academic team. The starting attackman further distinguished himself by being named co-player of the year by the Daily Memphian, a recognition that highlights his significant impact within the program.

Senior captain Sanford Owen (’26), another starting attackman, was selected as the recipient of the USA Lacrosse Bob Scott Award, perhaps the most character-driven honor available to a high school lacrosse player. The award is reserved for seniors who excel in service to their team, school, and community. Sanford Owen’s achievements as an Eagle Scout and vocal leader on and off the field embody the award’s ideals.

Beyond the national stage, several MUS lacrosse players earned recognition on the all-metro, all-region, and all-state teams, serving as a testament to the depth of talent within the program as a whole.
